no you are going to amarica.

as much as i need to write a full blown blog on the trip, seeing the last post was from shortly after loosing my equipment, and so much more has happened since, and i've been back in the states for a week already, i'm just not ready. i'm still feeling a bit of the jet lag, i thought i'd kicked it but i'm dragging today, but i guess it IS a monday.

i did want to post this fun picture of my note from a little boy named gaurav. as we were leaving the last day, we made a quick round to our students in their classrooms and he stretched out his arm and gave me this wonderful note. of course he meant "don't go to america." so cute. disregard the white boy (me ;) ) he's not nearly as cute.

more pictures to come. this one is taken from the batch i took with jen's 30D, i just got them last night, so i need some time to edit. but i'm excited to have a few.

gear and then some.

we've been so busy. there has barely been time to sit and write a blog, and the internet is only available at a cafe 10 minutes up the mountain, so even the other afternoon when i would have had a chance to blog, i was so exhausted, i knocked out instead!

but as many of you heard, all my gear was stolen from me while getting situated on our train in new delhi. my knee was basically touching the bag and five of us were standing there loading our bags up on the wracks above our seats. as i turned to my other bag to grab, of all things, my luggage lock to lock my camera gear bag to my train seat, it was swiped, i didn't feel a thing, and no one saw it. he was so sly, and must've been watching us since we arrived at the station, as he KNEW which bag to take, because my travel back pack was also sitting ON top of the camera bag, and he moved that to grab the gear. needless to say, this put a huge damper on my demeanor for that day, though i had to just keep telling myself, that even though i can go over and over the scenario and what i "could have done" better, theres just nothing that can be done now. so thats that. everything gone, and its not all mine... which makes the loss that much worse. but the owner is gracious and understands the circumstances, and we will figure out a way to get it all replaced. i'm praying for a miraculous provision!

but that aside, this trip has been amazing. i feel like i've been here forever. which is both a good and bad thing, as today i did feel a bit homesick, but am still looking forward to the next leg of the trip and all we will be doing.

we have been in musoorie the past few days, and have had a great time working with different children in village schools, playing games with them teaching them new songs and skits. they live in such rural areas where there is barely anything, yet they have such joy and have welcomed us with open arms and love to interact and practice their english with us.

its so hard to explain in words the beauty of this place, yet there is such despair in the meager living arrangements they are forced to live. we passed by some road workers in from nepal, and one of our friends who lives here told us they make about 150 rupies a day, which is aprox 3 us dollars. 3... can't imagine.

we have visited some families here and their house churches, and we went to an india engagement ceremony last night. tomorrow we will go to the church that our friends pastor. its been a "spiritual tour" as we learn about the struggles of the christian church here.

tomorrow afternoon we head to deraduhn for the next week before returning to delhi and then back to the US.

i have a few pictures, thanks to steve letting me use his point and shoot, not as much flexibility, but at least i am able to capture a bit of the beauty and interesting things i'm seeing here.

love you all.

we're here. i've said this a few times already via email and instant message, but the 13+ hour flight was not nearly has bad as i had anticipated. i had no idea what to expect and if i'd be able to sleep or become stir crazy! but alas i was able to sleep, watch a movie, listen to music, eat some interesting indian style airplane food and arrive safe and sound in new delhi.

we're staying with some friends here, which is great! today and tomorrow i believe we will be learning a lot about indian culture from them, preparing us for the rest of our time traveling.

since we arrived in darkness, i have not seen much yet, but the drive over here from the airport was amazingly amusing. the rules of the road are basically suggestions :)

anyway. we're safe and sound and excited to see what comes next!

follow.

don't forget to follow the team blog here. http://ecclesiaindia2009.blogspot.com i'll be doing the updating (not the writing persay) for that blog so it will for sure be updated, even if this one is not! we'll be posting lots of pictures, videos and stories from the trip. i still can't believe we leave in less than 24 hours! i'm really getting excited, yet for some reason i still can't get it into my head that i'm heading to INDIA for the next two weeks. crazy.

i cherish your prayers. there is no way we could get through this without it, and without HIM.

love love and love.

two days.

only two days left in la before we leave. it's arrived so quickly, i still can't fully comprehend that we are leaving. i'm pretty much set. all i have to do is laundry and pack it all up. the camera equipment is packed, and ready. i have one more prescription to pick up, its ready as we speak. i start taking my malaria meds today, i bought vitamins, since we can't eat fresh fruits and veggies for two weeks. so yes physically i think i'm ready.

prayer is important. my prayer team has been lifting me up, and i feel a sense of peace. yesterday it landed on me, and i'm excited! so spiritually i think i'm ready.

so here we go!

ten days.

ten days out. we leave in ten days. how crazzy! seems like the past few months of preparation just flew by. but i'm definitely excited to see what god has in store for us there.

as for funds. god has really blessed me through you. as of today i've broken the 2k mark. total needed is 2500, which doesn't seem so far away! thank you thank you. i can't wait to tell you how this blesses the children in india.

prayer request :: the long flight. this will be the longest flight i've ever taken, and actually the longest for most of the team members too. so please keep us in your prayers that the 14 hours from newark to new delhi will be smooth, fun and restful.

can't wait to get there and start posting pictures and stories. make sure to check out the team blog as our bloggers will be posting as often as possible while there!

funds update.

first a big huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to the trip. i know you will be truly blessed being apart of this outreach of love.

that said, i'm at 1225 of my needed 2500. i am praying and trusting that God will provide, and i reach out and ask that those of you who have not yet supported, think about it. the team leaves on october 3rd, just about 3 weeks from now!

i'm so excited, and nervous and ready and anxious and all those crazy feelings that come along with such an endeavor.

can't wait to keep you all abreast of the amazing things that happen in india for us.
